UPDATE: Jay Z, noted owner of Apple Music’s streaming service competition Tidal, appeared on Ocean’s new Beats 1 show to discuss technology, radio and releasing music. “I think with all the technology and where we are today, it’s definitely a more efficient way to get music out,” says Hov. “Because it’s the whole idea behind having a festival that played all sorts of music. Because no one listens to music like that — you just listen to music more than ever. Back in the days, there used to be hip-hop clubs. Now every club is a hip-hop club.”
He adds, “It’s unfortunate because with technology and everything moving forward, it should be a better way that the music, the musicians, radio, and these things that are supposed to be instruments for the arts, should exist. It shouldn’t be about advertisement.”

After making a rare cameo on Calvin Harris’ “Slide” (also co-starring Migos), Frank Ocean has become the latest artist to debut his own Beats 1 show, with Blonded Radio on Apple Music (Feb. 24).
The first show, currently airing on the streaming service from 12 to 2 p.m. ET, features a mix of cuts from the hitmaking likes of Migos and Future, as well as “selections with Vegyn, Roof Access and Federico Aliprandi,” according to a release.
In addition to “Slide,” more Frank Ocean material is allegedly in the stash, according to John Mayer, who (as noted by Pitchfork) called the music “space reggae” during a recent Instagram live stream,
