Despite his troubles, Wayne doesn’t seem too shook up about it, and is instead channeling his grievances into expression. Over the weekend, Lil Wayne linked up with fellow Young Money artist Gudda Gudda and Hoodybaby for the video to “Loyalty,” off July’s surprise EP In Tune We Trust. And on Tuesday (August 8), Lil Wayne dropped off a new track, titled “Like a Man.”
On “Like A Man,” Wayne oozes his signature croaky, Auto-Tuned vocals onto the chilled-out, tropical house production, courtesy of his right-hand engineer Onhel. Lil Wayne floats over the beat, and at the song’s climax, recites rapid-fire bars like, “Boy we went from stretch Hummers to the stretch mansions.”
Wayne’s onslaught of releases are only making fans even more impatient. Birdman spoke to Billboard earlier this year and revealed that “Carter V coming out this year, man. Wayne my son, and it’s just that simple. Carter V definitely coming out, though.” Birdman’s revelation hasn’t stopped Lil Wayne’s anti-Cash Money tour, though. In April, the rapper told the crowd at his Garden City, Idaho concert that he gave the label a new nickname. “We got a nickname that’s a.k.a. F–k Cash Money, how you doing?”
