Miguel’s most overtly political record to date, “Now,” has received an equally resonant visual treatment, which helps to demystify the corruption behind immigration detention centers.
“How can somebody be kept for nine years, four months?” asks one man in the video, rhetorically. “That’s not detention. If somebody tells you this is dentention — no, it’s not. They’re prisons.”
Filming took place in Adelanto, Califorinia, home to the largest immigrant prison in the state, housing 2,000 family members predominantly from Mexico, Haiti and Central America.
