Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. have their first encounter in the latest trailer for All Eyez on Me, the upcoming biopic about the legendary rapper.
The minute-long trailer opens with a young Shakur witnessing the police arrest his Black Panther and activist mother Afeni Shakur.
“They are going to come after you and everything you love. They are gonna give you the tools that you need to destroy yourself,” his mother, who died in May 2016, warns Tupac in the preview (via Hip-Hop DX).
Later, Demetrius Shipp Jr.’s Shakur and Biggie – played by Jamal Woolard, the same actor who portrayed the Ready to Die rapper in the 2009 biopic Notorious – share a brief encounter. The two rappers’ still-unsolved murders are also the subject of an upcoming USA true crime series.
The Benny Boom-directed film arrives June 16th on what would have been Shakur’s 46th birthday. Before that, the rapper will be among those inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 7th, alongside a 2017 class that includes Pearl Jam, Joan Baez, Journey, Yes and Electric Light Orchestra.
